Imagining new uses

+ PUBLICATION DESIGN + ILLUSTRATION

Inspired by steam engine toys from the Smithsonian archives, I created a tongue-in-cheek instruction manual for the imaginary uses of these machines. The manual became a recruitment zine for a pretend club of enthusiasts called "The Society for Forgotten Inventions."

The zine was created for a Risograph printer—the overlapping dot matrices, bright colors, and room for surprises from misregistration are all suited for this style of printing. It was printed on off-white newsprint in order to convey a feeling of mass quantity.
